New-to-you Computer Setup
(Computer Transfer - Trickle Down)
In most cases, when someone receives a new computer, the "old" computer is "trickled down" to someone else in the department. To clean up the files, configuration, etc., set by the former owner and to assure the computer is working efficiently, you should request a format and re-install of the operating system and application software. To do so, fill out the online Setup and Installation Request Form or contact the Computing HelpDesk at 568-3555 and request Desktop Services to format and re-install your computer. This is highly recommended anytime you receive a "trickled down" computer.
Standard Software Install
The software listed below will be installed on transferred computers. Desktop Services will also install any additional software package for you. If it is JMU owned software, your license (if required) will be verified, and the software installed. If it is personally owned software, we ask that you provide the original CD or diskettes and any documentation.
