Accessing Files using Native File Access from a Macintosh

  1. If connecting from off-campus or through JMU Wireless, login to the JMU Network using your VPN Client. For instructions explaining how to do this, see What is Remote Access?


  2. In the Finder, click Go, Connect to Server.

  3. In the Connect to Server dialog that pops up, type the name of the server you wish to connect to and click the + button.

    • nwdata2.fs.jmu.edu
    • nwdata3.fs.jmu.edu


  4. Clicking the + button will copy the name of the server to your Favorite Servers list.

  5. Now choose the server you wish to connect to by clicking on the server name in the Favorite Servers list and clicking the Connect button.

  6. You will see a dialog telling you that you are connecting to the server,

    followed by the login prompt. At the login prompt, enter your eID and Password and click Connect.

  8. After connecting, a dialog will pop up prompting you to choose the volume to mount. Select the Data Volume an press OK.

  9. An icon will appear on your desktop and a Finder window will open showing the contents of your data volume.
