We recommend that you uninstall any previous version of the VPN client for Mac OS X before you install a new version.
If you need to uninstall a previous version follow the "Uninstalling the VPN client" instructions.
Macintosh VPN Client Installation Instructions
Download the client
If it does not automatically open up for you Click on the file:
vpnclient-darwin-4.8.00.0490-GUI-k9.dmg
or
vpnclient-darwin-4.9.00.0050-universal-k9.dmg
(Depending what client you downloaded)
This will open up the VPN Client Installer...
Click on the "Continue" button..
You will then see the License Agreement window
again click on the "Continue" button...
You will see the following box drop down from the top of the window:
Click on the "Agree" button..
You will be taken to the following window:
select your macintosh hard drive then Click on the "Continue" button...
You will be taken to the following window:
Click on the "Install" button...
You will then be asked to Authenticate the install:
Insert an Administrators Username and Password then click the"OK"button and installation will begin.
When the installer is finished it may ask you to reboot. You should see an icon on your desktop that looks like this:

Running the VPN Client
Click on the VPN Icon...
This will open up the Cisco VPN Client.
There are two possible "Connection Entries", you may or may not have 2 to choose from.
If it is a Wireless connection you need highlight the "JMU Wireless" entry.
If off campus then highlight the "JMU Remote" entry.
click on "Connect"at the top of the window...
This will open up a window that prompts you for your E-ID and Password. Enter them and click"OK"...
You can see that you are connected by looking in the lower left hand corner of the window.
You can then Minimize the window.
When you are ready to disconnect bring the window back up and click on "Disconnect"at the top of the window.

The VPN uninstall script uninstalls any previous command-line or GUI version of the VPN Client from your workstation.
To uninstall the VPN Client, take the following steps:
1. Open a terminal window...
2. Run the following command:
sudo /usr/local/bin/vpn_uninstall
3. Enter your password...
4. You are prompted to remove all profiles and certificates.
*If you answer "Yes", all binaries, startup scripts, certificates, profiles,
and any directions that were created during the installation process are removed.
*If you answer "No", all binaries and startup scripts are removed, but certificates, profiles,
and the vpnclient.ini file remain.
