Accessing Files from a PC with the Novell Client
- If you are not connected to the JMU Network, do so by logging in using your VPN Client to connect wirelessly or from a remote site. For instructions explaining how to do this, see JMU On-Campus Wireless Network or JMU Off-Campus Remote Access
-
Right-click on the red N in your system tray and select NetWare Login... from the pop up
menu.

-
Enter your eID in the field for your Username and press the Tab key to move the focus
to the Password field. The client will then perform what is called an LDAP lookup to verify
you have a user account in eDirectory. There may be a delay of a few seconds, after which,
you may enter your password and click OK to login.

-
After clicking OK, a Results window will appear. This window will display
your Context, User ID, Tree, and the server you are attached to. It will also
display your drive mappings, created by commands in your login script.

The standard drive mappings for NetWare servers are:
Drive J: - Server: NWData3 - Volume: Data
Drive K: - Server: NWData2 - Volume: Data
Drive L: - Server: NWLab1 - Volume: Data
Drive M: - Server: NWLab2 - Volume: Data
Drive N: - Server: NWData1 - Volume: Data
Drive Z: - Your Primary Data Server - Volume: SYS - Folder: Public
-
After the login process is complete, the Results window will disappear.
If it does not disappear, there was probably an error in the login process
or the drive mapping. Examine the Results window closely to determine what
the error may have been.
-
If you open Windows Explorer you will find drives similar to those here.
