Mac OSX Software Update Guide
Step 1: Start the Software Update control panel.
From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences...
A window similar to the one below will display.
Double-click on the Software Update control panel to continue.

Step 2: Check for available updates.
Click on the "Update Now" button to begin checking for new updates.
If there are any new updates, a window similar to the one below will be shown.

Step 3: Select and Install the updates of your choosing.
Select the updates of your choice and click the Install button.
If you click on a specific update, details about the software will be shown.
The Software Update process requires an Administrator account to install the updates.
Consequently, you may be prompted with the following Authentication window.

The selected updates will be downloading and installed as shown below.

When the installation process is done, you may be prompted to restart as shown below.

Step 4: Visit our Security web site.
Our computing security web site is located at www.jmu.edu/computing/security.
Be sure to check out the site to learn how to further protect you computer from malicious attacks and abuse.
Also, the latest versions of the supported Internet applications found on our CampusNet CD can be downloaded from our web site at www.jmu.edu/computing/downloads.
