Katie Lese hails from the small town of Berryville, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley. She has continued to make the Valley her home when she attended JMU for her undergraduate degree, receiving a B.A in Communication Studies with a concentration in Cultural Communication. She became a "double Duke" after attending JMU's graduate program in Communication & Advocacy, where she focused her research on women's reproductive justice and on health disparities among marginalized populations. She is thrilled to return to the School of Communication Studies to teach the basic course and work with students in Shout Out!
When she is not teaching, Katie enjoys watching true crime documentaries and playing with her cats.
