This program of study provides a liberal arts
approach to the study of how people influence and relate to one
another. Students examine the communication processes and effects
that occur in a variety of settings. Areas of study that can be
explored include communication in personal relationships, groups,
public encounters and professional settings. Through a curriculum
emphasizing theory, practice, research and the evaluation of
content and behavior, students become prepared for careers in
which effective communication is essential. This program also can
prepare students for graduate or professional study in
communication, law or human services.
