May Graduation Checklist

Qualification for Participation

In order to participate in the May 3, 2008 commencement ceremony, a graduation application must be completed by each candidate and submitted to The Graduate School by January 25. Due to printing production schedules, your name may not appear in the commencement program if your application is not received by the above deadline.

January 15, 2008 Personalized graduation mail order information is available online at: www.herff-jones.com/college/graduation
January 25, 2008 Application for degree due to The Graduate School.
February 5 - 7, 2008 Order personalized Commencement announcements at the bookstore.
After April 1, 2008

Generic graduation announcements are available from the bookstore.

April 7 - 10, 2008

Graduate Fair at the Bookstore: generic graduation announcements are available or order customized ones; order a class ring; pick-up a diploma frame and purchase the new, exclusive cap and gown.

The new purple regalia will be available exclusively at the JMU Bookstore beginning April 7th.

  • Master sets are: $55.00
  • EDS sets are: $69.00
  • Doctoral candidate black regalia rentals are: $65.00
April 28 -May 2, 2008 Pick-up your name cards from Registration Services, 3rd Floor, Warren Hall between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
May 2, 2008 All coursework requirements must be completed by this date.
May 3, 2008 Students must be in proper processional line by 8:00 a.m.
May 3, 2008 Commencement begins at 8:30 a.m.
May 3, 2008 College ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m.
