Creativity is a focus in class and student readings during the beginning weeks of the semester. The students participate in a creative art workshop and then complete an exercise that requires them to write a newsletter to the families in a fictitious kindergarten class. In the newsletter they explain how they will incorporate art as a classroom teacher and the reasons for this decision. In the following weeks, students plan and implement creative art experiences for the YCP children.
