Students participate in a cooking and food preparation workshop that models appropriate classroom activities for use with young children.  The session includes information on creating recipe cards that support children's literacy development, as well as identifying many ways to incorporate meaningful learning in the curriculum areas of math, science, health, and social studies.  One of the reading assignments to prepare for this experience is the article Math at the Snack Table by Linda Meriwether (available in the Family Resource Center). In the weeks following the workshop, students plan and implement food preparation experiences for the YCP children.
