Kathy Sarver received her master’s at JMU in administration and later earned her certification in College Student Personnel Administration. Before coming to JMU she was a teacher and a coach in Virginia public schools and worked for the State Department of Education in teacher training. After reveling in being a stay at home mom Kathy started her career at JMU 20 years ago in Student Affairs and has since moved to the Office of Development where she is the Director of Planned Giving.  She also teaches classes each semester in Kinesiology and for the Hart School of Hospitality & Sport and Recreation Management.

Across campus and across her time at JMU Kathy has served on a multitude of committees, served as advisor for student groups, earned awards and participated in Alternative Spring Breaks. Kathy is a life-long learner who continues to take classes that challenge her to grow as a person and in her profession.

Kathy enjoys camping, fishing, cooking and eating as well as participating in and watching football, base/softball and volleyball. Kathy is married to Tim, a retired lifelong educator and coach, and they live on a small farm outside of Harrisonburg. They have three amazing grown children, 2.5 beautiful and of course, gifted, grandchildren and five fat Angus cows.
