I am currently completing my student teaching practicum in Den Haag, Holland at The British Junior School Diamanthorst; it is a private international school.
I am currently in a Year 3 classroom (equivalent to Second Grade) with 22 students representing 15 different nationalities. All of the students in the school have English as their second language; however, most speak English fluently. I teach from the British curriculum which is very different from the American curriculum.
The most memorable part of this experience so far has been International Day. The students dressed up in outfits from their home country and brought in food from their cultureto share with their classmates during lunch. It was an amazing experience seeing all the children so accepting of every one's culture and background and supporting diversity as a school.
