Praxis II:   VA does not require a Praxis II for SPED.  Students are encouraged to consider taking a praxis II text in a content area if they think they can pass (e.g., Elementary content or middle school science) to earn “highly qualified” status in VA.  If you want to teach outside of VA, check the ETS website for testing requirements of that state.

Registration information, including test dates, test sites, computer-based options and scheduling, is available from the websites in the above chart.  Additional information and support is available at the ESC website http://coe.jmu.edu/esc.

IMPORTANT DATES:

√  Application to Student Teaching—complete during first Fall semester for the following Fall student teaching.  See Education Support Center website for details.

√  Application to Graduate—see dates on Graduate School website.  Applications are due early the semester you plan to graduate.
