2 As of January 1, 2014, Virginia no longer accepts the Praxis I for admission into preprofessional teacher education programs. Praxis I tests taken prior to January 1, 2014 will still be accepted for teacher education requirements. If you have passed individual subtests of Praxis I prior to January 1, 2014, please contact the Education Support Center to determine if the subtests will fulfill teacher education requirements.

470 is the total of the passing scores on the Reading and Writing tests included in the VCLA, but you do not have to pass both tests as long as the added test scores equal 470 or greater.

4 Art - must pass before applying for licensure

   Inclusive early childhood, early childhood and elementary - required for full acceptance to MAT graduate program

   Middle Education - must pass both content area tests prior to beginning more than 12 hours of graduate course work

   Music - must take during student teaching

   PHETE - must pass before enrolling in KIN 683

   Secondary - must pass prior to beginning more than 12 hours of graduate course work

   Special Education - required for graduation
