Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships usually require 20 hours/week and offer a tuition waiver equivalent to three classes per semester and a bi-weekly stipend.

To be eligible, students must be unconditionally or conditionally accepted into a graduate program.

Positions are very limited. Early application is encouraged (January-February for following fall).

Submitting applications directly to campus departments or COE offices is the best way to be considered, since positions/vacancies are often not listed with JOBLINK.

To apply within the department, complete the application for "graduate assistant." Print and mail the application to Mrs. Juanita Swartz, swartzjm@jmu.edu, or MSC 6909, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA 22807.

NOTE: You will be asked to submit the application online. However, you should also send or bring a copy to Juanita Swartz if you are interested in a department appointment.  Thus, it is best to print a copy first and then complete it online.
