2011-2012 Essie Glass Faculty Award

This annual award is presented to a James Madison University faculty member in recognition of his or her exceptional accomplishments in research and/or teaching. It was established by Harold C. Glass in memory of his aunt, Essie K. Glass, who retired as an assistant principal at Parry McClure High School in Buena Vista, Virginia.

SUSAN BARNES, Ph.D
2011 Mildred Dickerson Outstanding Early Childhood Educator

This award is presented by the Valley Association for the Education of Young Children to local early educators who make an exemplary contribution to the organization and young children. It was established in recognition of Mildred Dickerson, the organization's first president and a distinguished faculty member of the College of Education.
