The College of Education is proud to announce that Dr. Teresa Harris, Dept. of Early, Elementary, and Reading Education, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for spring 2010. Her project is to build collaboration between JMU ECED/ELED programs and the University of Pretoria (UP, South Africa) Early Childhood Development Department. The focus of the project will be to jointly examine issues related to educating pre-service and in-service teachers to work with students from diverse backgrounds, develop collaborative research agendas, share curriculum development efforts, and create opportunities of exchange through distance technologies. Dr. Harris will be serving as a lecturer and co-teacher in the ECED department, meet with faculty as they develop a M.Ed. in ECED and certificate program, begin online discussions around current issues, and identify and field test a seminar in early childhood issues and practices to both JMU and UP students.
