Dr. Ross retired in Fall, 2012 after 35 years at JMU. During her tenure at JMU, she has been a professor, department head, associate dean, NCATE Coordinator, and served as the director of the University's SACS self-study in 2003. Dr. Ross serves on the NCATE Board of Examiners and consults with institutions on issues of accreditation and assessment. Dr. Ross is married to Dr. Jerry Benson, JMU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and they enjoy cooking, traveling and taking care of their historic house. Older daughter Virginia (Ginny) is the docent educator at the Fralin Art Museum at UVA and Amanda is a PreK teacher in Harrisonburg City Schools.
