Dr. Ross received all three of her degrees from Florida State University in early childhood/elementary education. In Florida she taught and was an administrator in preschool and child care centers. During her tenure at JMU, she has been a professor, department head, associate dean, NCATE Coordinator, and served as the director of the University's SACS self-study. Dr. Ross serves on the NCATE Board of Examiners and consults with institutions on issues of accreditation and assessment. Her children are for the most part out of the nest--Ginny is completing a post-masters internship at Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture in Hanford, California. Amanda will graduate in May from UNC-Wilmington in elementary education. Dr. Ross is married to Dr. Jerry Benson, JMU Interim Provost, and they enjoy cooking, traveling and taking care of their historic house.
