COE/IIHHS Support VDH WIC Program

Jan. 5, 2009. The College of Education (COE) and the CISAT Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) have partnered with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) on a $95,000 project to enhance training for counselors in support of the VDH Women, Infants, Children (WIC) program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The WIC program provides nutritional assistance for women and their children up to age five years. JMU's role is to enhance current WIC training through the use of interactive video designed to help WIC counselors-in-training to learn foundational information regarding the WIC program which they can then pass along to WIC clients.

The video posits actors in the role of WIC Directors around the state who guide WIC counselor trainees in advising WIC clients effectively.
