Annmarie Noonan has been named Shenandoah County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year 2011. Ms. Noonan is a Grade 6 United States History teacher at Signal Knob Middle School in Strasburg, Virginia. History becomes real in Ms. Noonan's classes as students dress in period costume and reenact historical events. America's presidents themselves from Washington through Abraham Lincoln have appeared in class to explain their impact on American history.
I'm not sure if you remember me, but I was a former student of your class and a graduate of the JMU M.A.T program in May of 2008. I have been teaching 6th grade social studies at Signal Knob Middle School in Shenandoah County for the last three years. This spring I was selected as the division Teacher of the Year. Here is a link to the press release on our division website.
I thought the JMU Secondary Education program would be happy to hear this.
