Internship Calendar

Course Registration:
Registration for summer sessions at JMU will begin on March 23rd, 2009 and registration will end on June 15th, 2009.   Students with an approved internship will be able to register during the registration period providing their Marketing Internship Approval Request Form has been approved.  It is the responsibility of the student to secure an internship that incorporates Marketing skills.

Timing of Required Correspondence:
During the internship experience, each student must correspond with their supervising professor at JMU in the form of three progress reports. Correspondence will be submitted electronically (your instructor will provide you with his/her preferences as to how specifically to do so) and each must be spaced apart a minimum of two weeks. For example, if your internship will last only six weeks (the minimum on a full-time basis), the first correspondence should be sent to your JMU advisor after the first two weeks, the second correspondence should arrive four weeks after the beginning of the internship and the final correspondence must be sent six weeks after the beginning of the internship. In cases where the internship lasts longer than six weeks - due to either a longer commitment or a part-time arrangement - your correspondence in the form of progress reports should be spaced apart in equal thirds. So if the internship is three months in duration, you need to submit a progress report after each month. Your instructor will provide you with details regarding their expectations with respect to the content of your progress report.

Evaluation:  August 24th, 2009
An evaluation of intern's performance during the summer internship should be sent by postal mail, e-mail or fax to their JMU internship advisor.   It is the responsibility of the intern to have an evaluation of their summer performance from their employer completed by August 24th, 2009.

Final Project:  August 31st, 2009
The final internship project is due one week after the official beginning of the fall semester.   The due date for the internship project is August 31st, 2009.   It is the responsibility of the student to schedule an exit interview date upon returning to campus.

Final Grades:
The final internship grade will be submitted to the Registrar's Office approximately three weeks after the project has been submitted to their intern advisor.
