The Financial Analysis Concentration

The Financial Analysis Concentration is designed to meet the needs of students who are seeking a career as a financial analyst.  The courses selected for this concentration are those electives that best prepare the student for the Level I and Level II Chartered Financial Analyst examinations.  The required courses are:

FIN362 Financial Analysis
FIN378 Fixed Income Analysis
FIN380 Derivatives
FIN475 or ACTG343 Financial Modeling or Intermediate Accounting I

Students with excellent mathematical and analytical skills will likely be most successful in this concentration.  While not required, students are encouraged to take the Level I CFA examination immediately after graduation.

The Financial Risk Management Concentration

The Financial Risk Management Concentration is designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in a career in risk management.  Risk management involves the identification of risks, the measure of risks, and the management and/or mitigation of risks.  This concentration requires the student to complete the most quantitative of our courses:

FIN380 Derivatives
FIN450 Risk Management
FIN451 Risk Management II
FIN471 Advanced Investments
FIN475 Financial Modeling

Students interested in pursuing this concentration should have excellent mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills. While not required, students are encouraged to take the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) examinations following graduation.
