Declaring an Economics Major

To declare an Economics major, please bring the Change or Declaration of Major form (along with a copy of your unofficial transcript) to Dr. Ehsan Ahmed, Zane Showker Hall, Room 434, to discuss the major requirements and classes.  An ECON career advisor will be assigned to you, and you will be added to the email Listserv to receive announcements from the department.

Admission to the Major in Economics - B.A., B.S. and B.B.A. Degree Programs:

Students wishing to pursue a B.A., B.S., or B.B.A. degree program in Economics must be formally admitted to the program in order to enroll in required core courses, ECON 331, ECON 332 and ECON 385.  In order to be admitted as either a B.A. or B.S. candidate, the student must have at least three semesters remaining at JMU in order to complete the degree requirements.  In order to be admitted as a B.B.A. candidate, the student must also meet all of the College of Business admission requirements (described in the College of Business section of the catalog).
