CIS Advisors & Mentors

Student Advising in the Computer Information Systems Program

Upon declaring CIS as your major (or in the spring semester for incoming freshmen), you will be assigned to our two faculty advisors in the Computer Information Systems program. These faculty advisors are your academic counselors for the computer information systems program and the college of business.

The CIS faculty advisors are:

Dr. Mike Mitri (mitrimx@jmu.edu) and Dr. Tom Dillon (dillontw@jmu.edu).

Your CIS faculty advisor is your primary point of contact for assisting you with academic progression into the College of Business and verifying academic progress towards graduation with a degree in computer information systems.

Faculty Mentor Program

In addition to the CIS faculty advisors, you will also be assigned a faculty mentor from the Department of CIS & MS. The role of the faculty mentor is NOT to replace the role of your CIS Advisors, but rather to provide you with an additional resource for advice related to careers, jobs, internships and curriculum.
