Jon Craver ('83)

R. Jon Craver retired in 2013 as a Partner in the Communications and High Tech practice at Accenture. Craver provided oversight of the consulting and outsourcing work for major accounts in the Washington region such as MCI, AOL, Sprint, VeriSign, and XM Radio. Craver serves as Member of Advisory Board at Strategic Enterprise Solutions, Inc.
Craver, CEO of the Launch Centre, provided initially funded start-ups and spin-offs with the management, marketing, finance, administration and technology expertise needed to become enduring, revenue generating businesses.
Craver's specialties are eCommerce business models and Internet-based sales and service solutions. Prior to his leadership appointment with the DCLC, he worked in Andersen Consulting's Communications & High Tech market unit, where one of his projects included serving as Chief Operating Officer for a dot-com start-up.
Mary Knebel Gillespie
Vice President of Alarm.com
In 2003 Mary Knebel Gillespie joined MicroStrategy as Vice President, Business Development, to help take the incubated Alarm.com technology from research and development to commercialization. Today Alarm.com has over 1.5 million customers, thousands of resellers and is the leading technology platform of interactive security, home automation and energy management products and services. As Alarm.com has grown Gillespie has held several executive positions including Vice President, Business Development, Vice President, Marketing, and Vice President, Sales Programs. She has built a career in marketing, business development and sales in venture-funded start-ups and early stage technology companies. Gillespie’s first “real” job was working for the Washington Redskins in a public relations role. Her technology career began in 1995 when she joined Internet backbone pioneer, PSINet, and held sales and marketing roles.
In 1998 Gillespie joined Proxicom, a leading web development firm where she managed and grew client engagements such as Mercedes Benz Credit Corporation and Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology (CIT). In 1999 she co-founded and was CEO of LaunchFuel, a venture-backed company which partnered with universities, research institutions, corporations and government agencies to commercialize intellectual property.
In 2013 Gillespie won Women in Technology's (WIT) Leadership Award, emerging growth category. She is a founding board member of Virginia Tech KnowledgeWorks and served on George Mason University’s Executive MBA advisory board and GMU's Business Alliance. She is an alumna of Mindshare, an invite-only CEO group for high tech companies in the Washington, D.C. area, and an alumna of Springboard, which showcases select women-led companies raising equity capital. Gillespie currently serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at James Madison University's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer.
Jeff Pompeo (‘88)
President of PocketSonics, Inc.
Jeff Pompeo serves as president of PocketSonics, Inc. which was acquired by Analogic Corporation in September 2013. Pompeo has a long career working with both large corporations and start-up technology firms. He has held executive Engineering and Commercial management positions for two venture-backed technology startups and also held key leadership positions at large multinational corporations such as General Electric, The Equitable, and American Management Systems. Pompeo founded and served as president of GE-Cisco Industrial Systems, a $40 million joint venture between General Electric and Cisco Systems. Pompeo has a BA in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University and a MBA from Virginia Tech.
John Rothenberger (’88)
Founder & CEO of SE Solutions
John Rothenberger has founded two successful companies that have been leaders in the IT industry. SE Solutions works with the Department of Homeland Security to provide IT solutions that address the intelligence shortcomings identified by the 9/11 Commission. Prior to starting SE Solutions, Rothenberger founded an IT company named Aspire Technology Groupand served as its president from 1993 to early March 2000. Aspire was recognized with numerous growth awards including a 1998 "Forbes" magazine Inc. 500 (No. 334),1998 Virginia Fantastic 50 (No. 4), a KPMG High-Tech Entrepreneur of the Year nominee and a 1994 Fairfax County New Business of the Year runner up. Rothenberger graduated from JMU in 1988 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing. He is a member of the College of Business Executive Advisory Council. Rothenberger is also a University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business Fellow.
Kevin Tucker (’93)
Owner & President of SOLitude Lake Management Company
Kevin Tucker started SOLitude Lake Management in 1998 to focus on the growing need for adequate management of lakes and stormwater retention ponds and the preservation of our natural resources. He is an active member of many leading trade and professional organizations and remains on the cutting edge of technology, product and service improvements in the aquatics industry. Tucker and the SOLitude Lake Management staff work with many leading aquatic product manufacturers to perform case studies and field research for many of the new products being introduced to the market. He has been a speaker at many trade and professional shows and conferences, and sits on the Board of multiple trade and professional associations. He is a regularly published author for many industry-related publications, and has been featured in various articles written and published by newspapers, businesses and trade publications.
Tucker is a graduate of James Madison University and holds a degree in business management with a concentration in finance. He is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie leadership training course, as well as many industry and technical course curriculums for aquatics, lake management, limnology, environmental science, fisheries management and GPS mapping and bathymetry.
