MAJOR Choices

Information and links contained on this page will assist students in exploring the various business majors offered at JMU, and help students select the most appropriate business field for their strengths.

Interested in a business major but unsure which one?  Need to explore academic requirements?  Contact the Academic Services Center in the College of Business for assistance.

JMU's Career and Academic Planning office maintains a Career Guide to Majors site.  After reading about some of JMU majors, students may wish to further discuss major choices with a career and academic advising professional.  Appointments may be made by contacting Career and Academic Planning at 540-568-6555 or by visiting CAP's website.

Students may also consider completing an online assessment test called FOCUS.  Advisors in Career and Academic Planning are available to review Focus results with students.

The Occupational Outlook Handbook is maintained by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the US Department of Labor.  The handbook not only describes hundreds of types of different jobs, it also provides information on training/education needed, earnings, work conditions, and expected job prospects.
