Phil Bennett is a partner in KPMG LLP’s (KPMG’s) advisory practice with over 20 years of IT, business process, accounting and auditing experience. He is a national risk management partner for the firm’s Management Consulting group. In addition, Bennett is KPMG’s campus lead partner for James Madison University.

His professional experience includes providing information security strategies, business continuity plan design, systems implementation support, Sarbanes-Oxley 404 assistance, SSAE 16 and IT-related attestation services, internal audit assistance and financial statement audit/audit of internal control over financial reporting support. Bennett’s clients have included the American Red Cross, CarMax, General Dynamics, Harman International, Owens & Minor, Sirius XM Radio, Towers Watson and The World Bank.

He is a certified public accountant (New York and Virginia) and a certified information systems auditor. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

He is immediate past chair of the Richmond Symphony Board of Directors.

Bennett earned a B.B.A. in accounting at James Madison University and an M.S. in management information systems at The University of Virginia.

Phil is a member of the College of Business Board of Advisors, as well as the Executive Boards of the Computer Information Systems/Business Analytics Department in the College of Business.
