Our curriculum is different from most business schools.
Since nothing in the business world operates in a vacuum,
neither do we. Rather than teach accounting or marketing or computer
information systems as though nothing else exists, we attempt to
integrate our curriculum throughout the four-year experience. Early courses build a foundation that becomes the building block of later coursework. In their junior year, students spend a semester in an integrated courses, team-taught by professors from different disciplines.
This integration highlights the
interrelationships among business systems and gives our students a career
advantage. Come to one of our
recruiting days. You'll see that corporations are competing
with one another to hire JMU College of Business graduates.
The College of Business is housed in the 100,000-square-foot Zane Showker Hall. It's next to Newman Lake and is a beautiful place to learn.
Completed in 1991, the building has state-of-the-art academic
facilities, including a wireless technology. The building, which houses all departments
and centers, features a teaching wing with classrooms designed to
enhance faculty-student and student-student interaction to the fullest
extent possible. The other wing houses faculty offices and on an
average day is full of students and professors talking exuberantly and
turning sideways to let you by.
We aspire to be one of the best undergraduate
programs in the United States. We're focused like laser beams on
excellence and innovation in learning. Come check us out.
