In Remembrance: Sidi Mohamed (Hazem)

Sidi Mohamed (Hazem) On 19 June 2011, Sidi Mohamed, a Saharawi national working for Action on Armed Violence (formerly known as Landmine Action) was killed during an explosive ordnance disposal demolition accident. 43 years old, Sidi had been working with the AOAV’s mine action program in Western Sahara since its inception in 2006. He was an experienced Deputy Team Leader, valuable colleague and friend. His commitment to making Western Sahara a safer place is well respected by all. This accident is Landmine Action’s first mine-related death since the start of the Western Sahara program. Sidi is survived by his wife and five children. J
