To whom it may concern,

It is not often that we can confront the bigger problems of the world with an ability to assist in a meaningful way. One of them before us now is unfortunately that of landmines, UXOs, and other ERW. I wholeheartedly believe that the effects of these devices jeopardize the possibility for growth in those areas affected, ironically the same areas that may not necessarily have the most efficient means of dealing with them.

Fortunately, I am in an exceptional position to offer assistance in this exact area. I expect to graduate from the NAVSCOLEOD early 2018 as a qualified EOD technician with the unique background of starting out as a Chemical Officer first. Working to control contaminated areas from some of the most hazardous agents in existence, I am technically proficient and able to adapt to unforeseen challenges that arise in carrying out my plan, or the plans of others. This is something that most EOD techs do not get do to the very specific nature of their work.

While I am still in the military, I am a National Guardsman which means that I am only required to fulfil an obligation once a quarter, a week at a time. I have intentionally planned my career to be beneficial to the mission of HMA and while I understand you need to focus on hiring those that can work ASAP as is the nature of this work, I would like to ask for a contingent employment upon my graduating this course. I may not have any direct experience in the grid, but I believe that my unique cross training, background instructing small and large groups, and dedication to the problem will bridge the gap.

Sincerely,

2LT Dan Fine

Summary

There is only a finite amount of time we have to make a positive change in this world. If we do well enough, that change can go on to influence the lives of generations that come after. I believe that I can make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by the remnants of wars past, and am in a perfect position to do so. Given my dedication to the problem of ERW, you will be hard pressed to find anyone willing to work as hard, or be as adaptable, as me.
