Computer Integrated Manufacturing Lab

Where: ISAT/CS Building - Room 146

The state-of-the-art Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) laboratory is one of many manufacturing systems laboratories that provide students with experiential learning on how to use computers and information systems as tools for process automation and operations integration including CAD/ CAM, robotics, process control, and computerized scheduling and planning.

This teaching facility consists of a complete Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS), four stand-alone mini 5-axes robots and two four-axes Computer Numerical Control (CNC) mill/lathe machining centers.

The FMS system has four stations served by a computer controlled conveyor belt and two mini robots. The stations include an automated storage and retrieval system, in-process dimensional gaging and Statistical Process Control (SPC) station, a robotic assembly station and a machining station consisting of a mini three-axes CNC mill and a mini CNC lathe served by a six-axes robot.
