Electron Microscopy Lab

Where: Health and Human Services Building

The Electron Microscopy Laboratory is a research facility dedicated to undergraduate and graduate education. Transmission electron microscopy research includes the analysis of protein crystals' structure, including green fluorescent protein (GFP) and protein kinase C. Undergraduate coursework and senior thesis projects are devoted to hands-on specimen preparation and TEM operation.

A state-of-the art scanning electron microscope was recently acquired. With this instrument, correlations between specimen surface structure and composition - both qualitative and quantitative - are possible. Faculty research interests range from biology to geology to microelectronic analysis.
