Association to Honor Dr. Steve Stewart
Dr. Steve Stewart, director of external relations for the College of Integrated Science and Technology, will receive the 2006 Professional Service to the Health Education Award on Friday from the American Association of Health Education.
The award, to be presented at the association's national meeting in Salt Lake City, is given to an individual who has demonstrated substantial service to the AAHE as an officer, committee member, program participant and leadership to the profession.
A 25-year member of the association, Stewart has been on the board of directors and served on many of its committees. Among his accomplishments is helping to develop standards required of health educators to practice.
Stewart came to JMU in 1979 as an assistant professor of health sciences. He served as head of the department of health services from 1989 to 2004, when he moved into his current position.
