Dr. Frank Alexander Palocsay, 69, of Harrisonburg, died Tuesday, April 17,
2007, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Dr. Palocsay was born
Feb. 5, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a son of the late Frank and Helene
Schmid Palocsay.
He served in the U.S. Army before returning to Ohio, where he graduated from
Ohio University. He received his doctorate in chemistry from the University of
Arizona. He came to JMU in 1968, where he taught chemistry until retiring in
2000.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Susan Wright Palocsay; two daughters,
Carolynn Lyman of New York and Leslie Daniels of Blacksburg; two brothers,
Leslie Palocsay of Ripon, Calif., and Robert Palocsay of Laguna Niguel, Calif.;
and two grandchildren.
The services will be private.
