 Craig Hopp  '93  - Craig is a Senior Research Scientist in the Structural Analysis group for Albany Molecular, Inc. in Bothell, WA.   Craig is also owner of a coin-operated laundromat, "The Laundry Basket", in downtown Bothell.  Craig and his wife, Lisa, welcomed the birth of their third child, Jacob "Jake" Patrick on May 18, 2004.  He joins big sisters Emma and Leah.  The Hopps live in Mill Creek, WA.  (2/7/05)

Marsi Shapiro Archer '93 - Marsi is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Missouri Southern State University. She and her husband, Matt, have two children-a son, Don, 4, and a daughter, Jennifer, who was born on September 16, 2003. (1/16/04)

Mark Novak '90 received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Florida State University and is currently an assistant professor at Florida Institute of Technology.  Before joining the faculty at Florida Tech, he served as the Deputy Chief of Medicinal Chemistry at Walter Reed, where he was involved in the lead optimization of candidate anti-malarial drugs.  His current research involves both organic synthesis and chemical toxicology. He also serves on the editorial board for the journal, "Toxicology Mechanism and Methods".  He got married in 2001. (4/25/03)

Tim Schwartz '98 graduated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in May 2002 with a Master of Divinity degree and was ordained to the Christian Ministry in June 2002.  He is currently pastor at Pughtown Baptist Church in Spring City, PA.  He has also been appointed as National Coordinator for American Baptist Boys and Young Men, a ministry of the American Baptist Churches. Charles C. Chusuei '89 is an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Missouri-Rolla.  He has been listed in the first edition of "2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century" which will be published later this year. (3/25/02)

Elizabeth Newton Javernick '92 - Elizabeth received her MD from Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD in April, 2001.  She has been happily married to Matt Javernick since June, 2000.  She is currently a Captain in the US Army working as a first year anesthesia resident at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Michele Kelly '90  of Pfizer Global R&D, and Laurie Locascio '83  of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, are among six new members selected to serve three-year terms on the Editorial Advisory Board of Analytical Chemistry. The board provides guidance and advice on editorial content and policy to the journal editors. (1/14/02)

Matthew Thornberry - In August 2001, Matt received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech where he studied organometallic chemistry with Paul Deck.  He is currently working as an ink chemist at Hewlett-Packard in Corvallis, OR.  This past May, Matt married Andrea Yardley whom he met while in graduate school. Adam KrugJennifer Condon Krug '95 - Jennifer and her husband, Jim ('94, physics) moved to Richmond, VA in 1998.  Jim  now works for Royall as a computer programmer.  Jennifer worked as a research chemist for Carpenter Company until the birth of her son, Adam, in August. (10/8/01)

Lisa Kilday '98 - Lisa is currently studying patent law at Catholic University in Washington, DC.  She is also employed as a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office. (8/20/01)

Marc Boysworth '96 - Marc recently received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University.  His dissertation was titled "Analytical Chemical Sensors: Refinement of Instrumentation and Calibration."  He has accepted a joint postdoctoral position with the Center for Process Analytical Chemistry at the University of Washington and Dow Chemical Company where he will research multidimensional chromatography in conjunction with chemometric data analysis. Michael Spitzer '85 - After graduating from JMU in May 1985, Mike moved to South Florida near Fort Lauderdale and began work for an environmental testing lab in the area.  After gaining seven years of experience, he and some partners opened Precision Environmental Laboratory in 1992.  In only six years the company grew to become the largest environmental lab in the State of Florida with annual sales of over $7.0 Million dollars.  Severn Trent Services UK, in an acquisition mode in the US, approached and purchased Precision last year.  Wishing to embark on a different career path and remain only "semi-retired", Mike has become business manager for legendary guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen.
