The Center for Faculty Innovation offers teaching consultations with JMU faculty in areas related to teaching and learning. Idiosyncratic to faculty members’ unique needs, consultations can take two forms:

Individual Consultations

The CFI provides on-demand consultations with JMU instructional faculty on areas related to teaching and learning. We collaborate with instructors in a variety of areas, such as designing a course, developing learning objectives, assessing student learning, actively engaging students, managing a large class, designing effective assignments, creating rubrics, and reviewing course evaluations.

As partners in the consultation process, the CFI consultant and faculty member(s) work through the teaching or learning question with assistance from evidence-based resources and their collective expertise. All interactions, discussions, and/or data are private. The CFI will match you with a consultant who will contact you.

Departmental Consultations

The CFI provides on-demand professional development opportunities for academic units and programs. Unlike the CFI’s general workshops and roundtables, which are for all instructional faculty, these targeted initiatives allow our CFI faculty to tailor outcomes to meet disciplinary or departmental needs.
