Integrating Diversity in Curriculum & Courses at JMU

This site offers examples of pedagogical strategies used by faculty at JMU. For easy reference, the strategies are grouped by the diversity topic that the instructor targeted (such as race/ethnicity, age, or socioeconomics). Many of them, however, can be modified to fit other topics, so please feel free to browse. Click on the title of any example below to access a short video clip of the instructor describing his or her work and/or a downloadable copy of his or her strategy. If you have a original strategy that you would like to share or one that you have innovated based on one of the strategies above, please contact either Dr. Meg Mulrooney, Chair of the Gen Ed Diversity Advisory Board (mulroomm@jmu.edu) or Dr. Carol Hurney, Executive Director, Center for Faculty Innovation (hurneyca@jmu.edu).

JMU Diversity Web

DiversityWeb is the creation of the Special Assistant for the JMU Diversity Initiative, which began in the fall of 2003. The Initiative has focused on two primary areas of development: the recruitment and retention of qualified diverse students, and the diversification of faculty and staff.
