Scholarly Writers' Groups
Description
The Center for Faculty Innovation and the University Writing Center are pleased to announce Scholarly Writers' Programs to support faculty writers during the academic year. The Scholarly Writers' Groups provide structured, writer-centered environments for faculty to work on scholarly manuscripts, books, or other writing projects. Each group provides individualized objectives, support from peers, accountability for progress, and celebration of successes.
Comments from Previous Participants
"It was a great experience. I found the group interactions very motivating. Sharing my writing with others helped me clarify the focus of my project, while reading my peers' work gave me a better appreciation of our common experiences."
"I was encouraged, even pushed, to develop my draft. I was also encouraged to think about the role of the scholarly writer in the institution and in the individual academic unit. And, more to the point, I finished a short piece and sent it out."
It was useful "to put a strategic focus on my writing project... to advance it from an idea to substanstive work toward the goal."
