Designing Effective Conference Posters

Do you have a conference coming up? Are you confused as to how to create an effective poster? Participants will cover how to make posters that are both engaging and memorable without being convoluted or overwhelming. This workshop will help you navigate the ins and outs of poster design, whether you're preparing for your first conference or you've got plenty of experience.

Biographical Sketch

Michelle Moreau (Coordinator, Speech Services, Center for Speech, Writing and English Language Learner Services & Communication Studies instructor) received a BA and MA in Speech Communication from the University of Alabama where she was also a nationally ranked speech team competitor. Michelle taught communication courses at the University of South Alabama for seven years and served as Basic Course Director, training graduate students to teach public speaking. In 2004, Michelle moved here to help develop JMU's communication center, a speech tutoring service for students, faculty and staff. She also teaches courses in the General Education Program and the School of Communication Studies. Her research interests are speech pedagogy, communication centers and PowerPoint.
