Please add your voice to an interactive dialogue about human influenced global warming - the human fingerprint on our changing climate. A growing body of work points to the potential that our growing emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases could lead to abrupt climate change - a "tipping point," leading to relatively rapid (<10 years) shifts in climate states. In geologic time, this is truly a Flashpoint! Please join a panel of faculty with varied disciplinary for a dialogue about the historical, social, and ecological significance of the growing imbalance between fossil carbon "sources" (e.g., petrodiesel-fueled vehicles) and carbon "sinks" (e.g., forests). Related topics and perspectives, including next generation impact of abrupt climate change, will be brought into the conversation. Encourage your students to attend and feel free to come and to go as your schedule permits.
