The lockdown will break each day for lunch from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Need the time and space to advance or complete that writing project? This Lockdown provides an opportunity to faculty members who desire time and structure to focus on academic writing. Join colleagues, who will be independently working on their own work, for an intensive writing experience and leave with a productive start to your spring semester. Optional writing consultations are available.
Participants will:
- Increase scholarly productivity.
- Advance scholarship agendas.
- Feel connected to a community of scholars.

Jared Featherstone, Coordinator, University Writing Center; Assistant Professor, School of Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication
Facilitator Bios:
Kurt Schick consults with undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. As an Associate Professor in the School of Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication, Dr. Schick also teaches courses in critical reading and writing, teaching and tutoring writing, and rhetoric. His scholarship focuses on coordinating the teaching of writing, thinking, and civic literacy.
Jared Featherstone is the Director of the University Writing Center at JMU, and he teaches courses in the School of Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in Journalism from the University of Maryland. In addition to developing his own creative work, his interests include online learning, Writing Across the Curriculum, service learning, and the relationship between teaching and tutoring.
