Data Management at JMU: One Year Later

What are the opportunities and challenges of data management? How/how not is JMU supporting data management? Does data management belong in the curriculum? Participants in this information session will discuss how faculty are managing data in compliance with NSF or other mandates with a panel of experienced JMU faculty.

 

Participants will:

  • Hear experiences from colleagues in order to learn from the procedures.
  • Learn where to find resources on data management and the NSF mandate.
  • Ask questions in order to brainstorm new solutions.

Facilitator Bio:

Cara MeixnerYasmeen Shorish is the Science Librarian at James Madison University. A graduate of the Data Curation Education Program within the Graduate School of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Yasmeen brings best practice experience to the dynamic and evolving field of digital preservation. Research areas include data management and curation, attitudes towards data sharing among researchers, and the shifting landscape of scholarly communication.
