White-ville

by Ramanga Osotsi, GENG

Ostosi describes an in class activity intended to raise student awareness of subtle forms of discrimination. He has GENG students become citizens of Whiteville, a town with no racial problems because there is only one race. Maintaining the status quo is the goal, and students may use any legal means necessary to keep out those that are different. This approach can be modified for gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disabilities.
