Susan Kruck, Faculty Associate

Susan KruckS. E. Kruck is a Faculty Associate to the Center for Faculty Innovation at James Madison University and is an Associate Professor in the Computer Information Systems and Management Science department in the College of Business. Dr. Kruck earned a PhD from the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at Virginia Polytechnic and State University and has published articles in Journal of Computer Information System; Journal of End User Computing; Journal of Information Systems Education; Information Management and Computer Security; Journal of International Information Management; and many others.  Dr. Kruck is on several Editorial Boards and is also a CPA in the state of Virginia and has over twelve years of corporate accounting experience.  Susan was selected as the Madison Scholar for the College of Business in 2006.  Other honors include Kroeber Faculty Development Fellowship, Beta Gamma Sigma Faculty Inductee and Annual College-wide Research Award in Best Academic Paper Category and she has also won a number of grants including a JMU Center for Instructional Technology Seed Grant, an Institute for Infrastructure and Information Assurance Grant and a Faculty Grant for Turninit. Early in her career at JMU she became the advisor to the Sign Language club and last year was nominated by the club for outstanding advisor.  Susan has been a Faculty Friend for years and participated in the Freshman Reading Program and Conversations with Faculty.  Last year she was asked by a new club to be their advisor because of her impressive work.  Susan is also involved with students in her academic field.  She helped coach and traveled with several students to the National Association for Information Technology Professionals to their National Collegiate Conference in 2005.  The Webpage team came in first and the Java team received an honorable mention; it was very impressive for JMU as this was the first time the university has participated in this professional national event.  In the 2006, seven students placed in the competitions.  Currently, Susan teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.  She is one of the original faculty in support of the graduate, online InfoSec MBA program.  Last year she supported the Center for Faculty Innovation as a TAP consultant, was a workshop presenter and attendee.  Some of her CFI duties will include being the Faculty Associate for the Madison Teaching Fellows for Online Teaching and coordinator of the TAP program.
