Patrice Ludwig is a triple duke, having earned a B.S. (1996) and an M.S. (2001) in Biology from JMU and is now an Assistant Professor in Biology. She earned her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Virginia (2008) where she also worked in the Teaching Resource Center. She has taught all levels of biology students at JMU from first-year students to the graduate level and currently teaches two of the four core curriculum courses for Biology majors. She has two areas of research interest. She studies causes and consequences of animal dispersal using field and simulation studies. She also studies the effect of using active-learning to address student misconceptions of carbon-cycling and energy flow.
