Matthew R Lee is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at JMU. He teaches Lifespan Human Development, Psychology and Culture, and will be teaching a new study abroad course in Germany and Poland about the psychology of ethnicity and ethnic conflict in summer 2014. His research lab, the Cultural and Racial Diversity Studies Lab (CARDS) studies the psychology of minority status and the effects of diversity-related coursework on improving attitudes associated with minority groups (e.g., racism, sexism, transphobia). He has published in AAPI Nexus: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Policy, Practice and Community, Psychology of Women Quarterly, and Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology. He recently co-chaired the national Asian American Psychological Association conferences in Orlando (2012) and Honolulu (2013). His Ph.D (2008) is in clinical/community psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
