Dave Pruett, an applied mathematician and computational scientist, has a checkered past that includes a decade of aerospace research at NASA Langley Research Center and teaching experiences at the high school, community college, and university levels. Regarding the latter, Dave taught at VCU and William & Mary prior to joining the Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics at JMU in 1996. Since coming to JMU, he has received numerous awards for both teaching and research. These include the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Honors Teaching and the Robert T. Knapp Award of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for pioneering work in computational fluid dynamics. Dave is also the first recipient of JMU’s Mengebier Endowed Professorship.
