On-line Teaching and Learning

Description:
In consideration of the growing number of on-line course offerings at many universities, this MTF group will explore various on-line teaching practices and determine the best strategies for use in the on-line classroom. Based on this exploration, this group will suggest ways in which instructors can effectively and efficiently teach in an on-line environment. Finally, this group will investigate emerging technologies and determine whether these tools would be a valuable addition to the current suite of on-line teaching tools available at JMU.
Expectations:
• The Madison Teaching Fellows will meet at least twice each month for group discussion or research. During the fall semester, meetings will be held every other Tuesday from 11:00am -1:00pm. Meeting times for the spring semester will be determined by the group.
• The Madison Teaching Fellows will contribute in a lasting way to the university community and the results of this year long exploration will be shared in a format to be determined by the group. The group may also want to submit findings via a conference presentation or scholarly publication.
