Goals
During the 2004-05 academic year, six fellows were selected to engage in conversations about effective teaching strategies for large classes (75+ students). This group met once per month with the following goals:
• Develop on-line resources for JMU faculty who teach large classes
• Help perform mid-semester evaluations in various large courses across campus
• Open their classrooms for observations
• Organize a spring workshop on teaching large classes
• Prepare pedagogical publication highlighting effective teaching strategies for large courses and successful aspects of the teaching community
Benefits
Madison Teaching Fellows were awarded a stipend ($250), monthly luncheons, teaching-related literature, and the opportunity to share ideas, improve their courses, and interact with a diverse group of colleagues.
