Dr. Cara Meixner is an associate professor of Graduate Psychology and executive director of the Center for Faculty Innovation. Her research focuses on providing access to crisis intervention services to persons affected by brain injury, particularly those individuals with co-morbid psychiatric or mental health diagnoses. With Dr. Cynthia O’Donoghue and JMU BIRT (Brain Injury Research Team), Cara has served as co-principal investigator on three action research grants that systematically evaluate and explore individual, societal, and organizational barriers to accessing care. Most recently, Drs. Meixner and O’Donoghue published a large-scale study for the Commonwealth of Virginia on neurobehavioral services in Virginia.
