Dr. Dennis Lo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, where he teaches courses in global cinemas and film aesthetics. His research interests include cultural studies of transnational cinemas, filmic representations of cultural geography, and production studies of Chinese-language cinemas. He is currently exploring how representations of rural and developing communities in Chinese-language films since the 1980s have been informed by the institutional politics and social interactions occurring within Chinese and Taiwanese production environments. In addition to participating as a faculty member of the Film Studies and Asian Studies minors, Lo is in the initial stages of planning study abroad programs partnered with the Beijing Film Academy and Taipei Film Commission for students interested in learning more about Asian film and media production.
